She was the first perioperative staff nurse in her hospital to achieve Clinical Ladder level IV status. She sat for the first RN First Assistant certification exam given in 1993 by the national Certification Board of Perioperative Nursing, and became the pioneer of CRNFA's in her geographical area. She served on the governing council of the RNFA Specialty Assembly of the Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN), and was a founding officer in the RNFA's of Georgia organization. She is a passionate teacher in the clinical environment and has lectured to nurses on a local and national level.
